The Hike

This was where Brandon, Angela, Meghan and dad started their hike.
Dad had gotten lost on this same hike last year, fell approximately 8 feet, hit his head, ended up spending the night on the mountain and being helicoptered out. He knew it was a tough hike but because he was unable to finish the hike, did not realize how strenuous it really was!
They expected it to be about a 7 hour hike.
I think it ended up being 11 hours.
Apparently, the climb up wasn't too difficult, until they got to the peaks and had to climb across very small areas. Meghan was not impressed, she's not a fan of big heights!
They hiked 21 km which is a little over 13 miles.
And climbed 1400 meters which is a little over 4500 feet.

What an amazing view!

As much as I'm sure I would have hated hiking so much, I'm a little jealous of the view they encountered.

Of course, since they didn't realize how difficult it was, they ran out of water and snacks.
We were all extremely worried about them and so glad to see them back.
They saw some amazing wildlife, Brandon even thinks he saw a bear!

This hike placed them at the highest point in the Canadian Rockies for a marked trail.
The peak! At this point they headed down and no pictures were taken. The descent included about 1900 feet in 1.2 miles so it was pretty steep! It also started hailing on them at one point on the way down. They all dragged in after the hike, sore, tired and hungry but pleased they had made it! Meghan said Brandon did great!
